This event keeps growing and I love it!! This is what it’s about.. bringing the community together !!! You need to be here and have a great time with us!!!

A celebration of fly tying, mountain waters and Bob Nanney's lifelong generosity By the middle of October, Maggie Valley, North Carolina, is dressed for the occasion. The surrounding ridges glow with crimson, copper and gold, cool water runs through some of the Southern Appalachians' most inviting trout country, and fly fishing reaches one of its most rewarding seasons of the year. It is a wonderful time to visit the mountains - and on Saturday, October 17, 2026, there will be another compelling reason to make the trip. The Appalachian Fly Tyers Gathering and final Tie for a Cause Saturday of 2026 will bring fly tyers, anglers, families and friends together at the Maggie Valley Town Hall Pavilion for a full day devoted to craftsmanship, community and giving back. The event will run from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at 3935 Soco Road, beside Maggie Valley Town Hall. Visitors can spend the morning on a mountain stream, enjoy the brilliant autumn scenery and then settle in at the gathering to tie flies, trade stories and meet others who share a love for fly fishing. With comfortable indoor tying space for as many as 150 fly tyers, the event offers a welcoming place for experienced hands and newcomers alike. Tie some flies, admire the fall color, catch a trout - and help a good cause.
